The Opportunity

We are looking for an Associate/Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in the Gateshead office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to further their career within a thriving multi-disciplinary consultancy.

Job Description

An experienced Associate/Senior Civil Engineer with experience in managing/running projects, leading a team and developing existing and new client relationships.

General Requirements and Attributes

  • A technical leader, able to provide direction support and motivation to a diverse team
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organisations, backgrounds and disciplines, utilising their knowledge and experience to best effect
  • A working knowledge and understanding of the Industry Standard Civil Engineering software packages - such as MicroDrainage; Causeway PDS; AutoCad; Civils 3D
  • An excellent communicator
  • Good people management skills
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Charted or close to chartership
  • Around 8-15 years experience


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively Managing and supporting the development of Civils Team
  • Managing and producing technical documents
  • Engaging with clients, sub-consultants, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Proactively managing a portfolio of projects and working in collaboration with other design disciplines both inhouse and external
  • Ensuring adequate resource for the delivery of the programme and identifying needs to enable strategic recruitment as necessary
  • Pricing of project briefs, proposals and deliverables.


General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of road and drainage design principles
  • Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, company and client processes, plans and initiatives
  • Create and manage quality processes and ensuring quality deliverables and assurance in line with company systems
  • Plan, direct and control tasks, people and resources.
  • Lead teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs.
  • Providing technical leadership, direction and pastoral care to team members, taking a proactive role in developing them to their full potential
  • Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H&S regulations

Overview

As a result of our ongoing success Shadbolt Group is seeking to recruit an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer- to work closely with our civil engineering team located within our Gateshead office.

The successful candidate will be required to project manage civil engineering projects from feasibility through the design, tender and construction phases to final handover. Typical current projects include civil engineering design input for the design and construction of commercial buildings, roads, drainage and general infrastructure projects.

The role requires an extensive knowledge of civil engineering design (earthworks, roadworks, drainage and general external works design), programme management, together with experience of the tender process and the management of construction projects. As well as playing a key role in a range of civil engineering projects across the country (through predominantly within the north-east), you will manage the civil engineering department's staff, projects and assist in developing sound client relationships.

The successful candidate will be joining a highly successful, multidisciplinary consultancy with an established civil; structural; environmental engineering and architectural presence within the UK.
