The company's engineering expertise extends around the world and across a variety of disciplines. Our engineering services include conceptual design, feasibility studies, process design, front-end engineering and design (FEED), detailed engineering, project engineering, construction engineering, and installation engineering.

An opportunity has risen for a principal geotechnical engineer to join our Civil Engineering discipline, working mainly in the Oil & Gas, LNG energy sectors and Renewable Energy.

The geotechnical work handled by the Discipline includes design of deep and shallow foundations for onshore facilities but knowledge of offshore foundation design would also be beneficial.

Reporting to the Project Lead Engineer he/she will be working in collaboration with Civil engineers and other disciplines engineers to provide technical inputs to a multi-disciplinary project team.

The successful candidate is expected to produce accurate work, possess the required geotechnical skills, to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and experience and participate in resolution of technical issues to ensure projects on-time delivery.

He/she should be a team player and able to work independently with minimum supervision, and possess good verbal and written communication skills. Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to others.

  • Geotechnical calculations and preparation of technical reports, specifications and contract documents
  • Interpretation of ground investigation data from site investigation
  • Derivation of soil parameters for the foundation design of LNG & petrochemical plants
  • Calculations of pile capacity, pile group response, pile drivability, pile group efficiency, soil-pile-structure interaction analysis
  • Calculations of gravity base and shallow foundations bearing pressure, settlement, sliding resistance, retaining walls, horizontal-vertical-moment interaction
  • Earthwork design, specification and implementation
  • Seismic and dynamic soil structure interaction including machine foundations, seismic slope stability, and seismic hazard analysis
  • Geohazard assessment and recommendations for risk mitigation, ground improvement, liquefaction, scour, soil swelling etc...
  • Novel foundation concepts

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Knowledge of offshore foundation design methods would be beneficial
  • Experience of numerical modelling and geotechnical software including FE analysis, SLOPEW, PLAXIS is preferred but not essential
