An opportunity has come available for a Principal/Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer to sit directly under the office director in Birmingham to help build and develop the small Geo-Environmental team to work collaboratively with the other larger Geo-Environmental team within the head office.

As a Principal/Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will be working for a long standing, well respected Civil, Structural and Geo-Environmental consultancy, on projects spread across all buildings/property for the likes of major developers and large-scale contractors.

Main duties will surround managing the day-to-day task with delivering projects and managing a small Geo-Environmental team in Birmingham as well as assisting the Geo-Environmental Director within head office.

The role as a Principal/Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer will mainly surround being the technical and commercial lead for Geo-Environmental projects. It will be expected that you can quality check all technical reporting on a Phase 1 and Phase 2 basis (combined interpretive), risk assessments (RAMS, CMRA, GQRA etc.) as well as overseeing multiple GI projects on a technical, commercial and financial basis. You must be client facing and able to mentor and develop junior engineers.

Principal/Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer Specification
  • Degree in Geology, contaminated land or Geotechnics. Ideally having obtained an MSc.
  • Ideally chartered with the relevant body
  • Extensive designing, organising and managing of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations
  • Quality checking for technical reporting on both a geotechnical and geo-environmental basis
  • The ability to deliver a consistently high standard of managing all practical, technical and financial aspects of projects.
  • Lead input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
  • Prepare and oversee fee bids and proposals.
