Working closely with structural, infrastructure engineers and the mining team, the Geotechnical Engineering team in Stoke undertake a broad and diverse range of geotechnical assessment and design projects across all of Wardell Armstrong's key sectors.

The opportunity:

The successful candidate shall be responsible for working projects to a high standard, and supporting innovation and continuous development of the team and output. Principally working in the mining sector, you will be familiar with tailings storage facilities, geotechnical design of open pits and quarries, and preparation of reports (Quarry Regs, DD, PFS, DSF). Specific tasks include but are not limited to: review and assess desk based ground engineering assessments and ground investigation data, interpretative reporting including derivation of geotechnical parameters and design of TSFs to suit anticipated mine outputs and lifespan. The ability to undertake modelling and analyses such as volumetric studies, slope stability, Finite Element Analyses, seepage assessments a distinct advantage.

This will include production of geotechnical models and calculations as well as reports. Further tasks include, geological interpretation, design and remediation of tailings storage facilities and mining infrastructure. Whilst based within our head office in Stoke on Trent, periods of site work shall be required, with potential for overseas travel.

You:

Skills / Experience required:

· BSc / BEng in Geology or related subject, MEng / MSc in engineering geology;

· Ground Investigation Specification;

· Mine Infrastructure experience;

· Hard rock and mining geotechnics;

· Tailings storage facility design;

· Written report writing skills, and computer software skills; and,

· Full driving license.
