Our services include Highways Engineering and Programme Management supported by our dedicated Project Management Service. We are a small business, with modern offices on the outskirts of Huddersfield, with great motorway access.

Core principles of cost, time and quality management are the foundation of our Project Management service. We pride ourselves on great communication, developing long term working relationships and continually finding ways to improve our service to meet the business objectives of our clients whilst minimising impact on our client's core business activities. GPS are looking for Civil Engineering Project Managers within the Highways & Civils team. Our clients include large retailers, hotels and petrol stations.

This is a client facing position progressing infrastructure schemes from inception through to handover and ongoing maintenance. The role involves design and project management of highway improvement, car park works and associated infrastructure projects to ensure optimum, compliant schemes are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with company quality standards and procedures.

Job Description:
  • The role involves the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of highways and car parks to ensure safe and cost effective transportation of people and goods for a varying client base.
  • The role of Civil Engineering Project Manager within GPS involves looking at all areas of development, from inception to delivery, of various Construction / Retail related projects around the UK.
  • It requires communication across all levels of management, to develop and establish a brief for the project that clearly defines all objectives.
  • It also involves the setting of measurable objectives and timelines of all elements within the projects; and managing other consultant disciplines and contractors to ensure delivery to cost, time and quality standards.
  • It is expected of this role to maintain records and work folders - ensuring all work is checked and appropriately approved for distribution.
  • The job requires the managing of all retail construction / redevelopment projects in a live environment.
  • The management of other design teams, cost management consultants and contractors is required to ensure timely completion within company budget and timelines, as well as those of the client.
  • The role is office based with travel to various sites for scoping, progress and handover meetings.

Essential Requirements
  • Educated to degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
  • Full driving license and own car with ability to travel within the UK.
  • CSCS card - Black/gold/white (or possess the qualifications to achieve).
  • Knowledge of highway design standards.
  • Experience of using AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and understand 2D drawings.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Pro-active and self motivated.
  • Base understanding of CDM regulations.

Desirable
  • SMSTS.
  • Working with retail clients.
  • CDM awareness training.
  • Up to date knowledge on H&S legislation.
