Company Description

We're an innovation and transformation consultancy that believes in the power of ingenuity to build a positive-human future in a technology-driven world. Our diverse teams of experts combine innovative thinking with breakthrough-technologies to progress further, faster.

Job Description

We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Consultant to join our team, bringing previous experience of technology development within an industry or consulting context. Working with our experts and engineering teams in our Energy and Utilities practice, the successful candidate will help our clients to develop and scale key enabling technologies for the energy transition, providing technical services across all stages of maturity.

Become part of the team

At PA, you will be working within one of the most successful UK organisations in technology and product development, with a team that has an exceptional reputation for innovation and delivery across a range of sectors. Our diverse team includes industry-leading experts in fields such as electronics, mechanical engineering and applied sciences, who regularly collaborate across disciplines to solve clients' most complex challenges.

To meet growing demand for our services in the energy transition space, we are now expanding our expert team across all technical capability areas, with an aim to strengthen PA as a centre of excellence for clean energy technology. We are looking for motivated and talented new colleagues to join us and help shape this journey.

PA offers a career in consulting, not just a job; a stake in our firm; and an environment where individuals and ideas matter. We also offer all of our engineering professionals career progression and tailored training to equip them with the tools they need to tackle complex and challenging projects through their careers.

Role Specifics

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing team of experts working in the energy transition. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record leading or working within multidisciplinary teams on complex technology or product development programmes, combined with a willingness to apply their experience to key clean technology areas to combat climate change. Previous experience of working directly on the development on technologies within the energy transition space would also be valuable. We are looking for candidates with a range of experience, whether its just a few years after graduating or if you are an industry "guru" we would like to hear from you.

You can expect a highly variable role in a consulting environment with client contact, hands-on project work and creative space to really own the solutions you are delivering. Our clients need us to work at the cutting edge and you will be ready to help.

We are looking for candidates with the following technical skills:

  • Technology development experience associated with electrification technology families, ideally those that are relevant to the energy transition (e.g. battery storage).
  • Comfortable working with technologies at a range of maturity levels, from concept to commercial deployment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable explaining complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

In addition, it would be desirable, but not essential, to possess:

  • Experience in providing technical consulting services to support technology development.
  • A commercial awareness of the challenges facing our clients, particularly related to the adoption of clean energy technologies (e.g. infrastructure roll-out to support electrification).
  • Experience of carrying out business development activities for technical consulting propositions (e.g. drafting and presenting proposals).

We look for the following qualities in our people:

  • A willingness to adopt a ‘hands-on' approach
  • Energy and enthusiasm to take on unfamiliar challenges, coupled with the ability to innovate and think freely.
  • Enthusiasm to help build the careers of our less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject
  • Chartered engineer (desirable, but not essential)
  • We value additional qualifications relevant to your area of expertise
