The Capital Project Services division of the Washington County Department of Land Use and Transportation is recruiting for an Engineering Technician II. An Engineering Technician II is responsible for many tasks within the division related to the inspection of construction projects. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Road and bridge construction project inspection;
  • Review of plans and specifications;
  • Tracking and calculating quantities on construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and conducting site investigations; and
  • Responding to citizen concerns.

About You

  • Knowledgeable & Confident: You possess the knowledge and confidence to work on County capital construction projects. You have basic math and computer skills and can safely operate full-sized passenger vehicles and pickups.
  • Problem-Solver: You are determined to find a solution to every problem and are always looking for opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Communicative & Collaborative: You possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. You enjoy both being a part of a team and working independently.
  • Value Diversity: You are comfortable working with a diverse group of stakeholders including engineers, developers, utilities, contractors, citizens, and staff from other government agencies.

Minimum Qualifications (MQs)

  • Two (2) years of responsible experience in road construction, road construction inspection, construction management, civil engineering, traffic engineering, or surveying, and work experience in an office or field setting; OR
  • An Associate Degree in civil engineering or related field.

  • Driving a motorized vehicle is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
