Job Description of a Senior Structural Engineer

• Responsible for all structural design outputs - concept design, STAAD analysis, and reports to support Mechanical and Structural Detailed design
• Manage a small team of structural engineers with KPI driven performance measures, On-Time Delivery, Quality, Cost, Value Engineered solutions; meeting/exceeding target costing
• Maintain and develop company structural design processes ensuring that all work conforms to the latest industry standards
• Manage the checking and quality of all design outputs, maintaining all required records
• Produce Design Specifications for any subcontracted elements of work, ensuring the competency of subcontractors and quality of work and managing budgets
• Collaborate with the project team in design reviews and follow up on actions/issues
• Develop engineering scope from quotations and customer specifications with consideration to past designs and future development opportunities

Skills required of a Senior Structural Engineer

• Degree Qualified with Chartership in Structural Engineering
• Effective communication is essential - with the ability to communicate effectively at peer to peer and up to director level
• Ideally 5+ years' experience working as an established Structural Engineer
• Sound working knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards relating to structural design
• Good Knowledge of lifting equipment and relevant codes
• Demonstratable experience of a value engineering and design for manufacture background, working to cost targets for structural designs without compromising integrity
• Main software packages in use are STAAD and Tekla. Experience of both is highly desirable
