You will join our Offshore Wind department

As our new Senior Primary Steel Engineer you will be part of Ramboll's Offshore Wind team consisting of over 175 professionals. Operating primarily from 6 offices in Denmark, Germany and the UK along with colleagues worldwide including India, China and the USA. The offshore wind team support offshore projects around the world, delivering the full suite of services required to develop an offshore windfarm including the design for offshore wind turbine support structures and foundations. Having completed the detailed design of over 60 offshore wind farms, you will join a team with a wealth of experience to draw upon and learn from. Your Key Tasks And Responsibilities Will Be
  • Manage primary steel engineers to deliver high-quality designs and documentation of primary structural components (e.g. monopiles or jacket structures) reflecting the latest state-of-the-art, ensuring third-party certification and follow-up during the fabrication and installation phases.
  • Deliver primary steel design work packages for concept, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed designs in collaboration with primary steel engineers and other disciplines and referring to the Design Manager and other discipline Lead Engineers.
  • Oversee the analysis and optimisation of structural designs through skilled examination of results and important design drivers.
  • Perform Quality Assurance of computer models and project documentation.
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the required methods and processes to design efficient structures
  • Presentation of design methods and results in client meetings and with the certifying agent during the certification process.
  • Contribution to Ramboll's technical development board, which is our research intelligence centre in the field of primary steel design.
Your key deliverables within the first 12 months will be:
  • Successful delivery of a primary steel design work scope for one of our detailed design projects which is fully coordinated with other disciplines and project stakeholders (Client, fabricator(s), other contractors, certifiers, etc) to achieve certification
  • Regular contributor to our primary steel competence group sharing knowledge with other engineers in the team and the wider offshore wind organisation.
  • Test and develop tools to streamline the design process on the primary steel discipline.
  • Achieved or close to achieving Chartered status with a recognised institution

  • A Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; preferably with a focus on the design of offshore structures or similar areas of study. Doctorate studies in a relevant field will be considered a plus.
  • A good understanding of the offshore renewables industry and experience designing offshore structures.
  • Knowledge of offshore wind foundations, structural dynamics and/or wind loading.
  • Experience with structural design software and programming languages, preferably Python.
  • Good communication skills in English with the ability to work as part of a team interfacing with other disciplines and other stakeholders both in person and remotely.
