Structural Design Engineer

Tangent International are urgently looking for a Structural Design Engineer to work 6 month rolling contract based in the United Kingdom (Reading/Hybrid)

Job Description

- Mentor on/off shore Design engineers. Read and understand project specific documentation and provide guidance, support and training as required;

- Work closely with the in house Design team and External Design Partners to ensure Designs produced comply with the relevant regulations;

- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved, as required;

- Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively manage challenges;

- Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team;

- Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress;

- Implementation of solution based decisions to progress site designs;

- Provide solutions based forums to remove blockers through Engineering principals;

- Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration;

- Review Documentation issued by the client and implement into ongoing projects;

- Run workshops with the Design teams on Design Solutions;

- Chair client meetings on site level designs and provide Structural guidance and expertise.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum BSC/BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering. Member of ICE or IStructE preferred, but not essential;

- Minimum 3 years working on Telecoms Design Projects, ideally on Vodafone and/or Cornerstone projects;

- Strong experience and ability to produce structural calculations along with checking to Eurocodes and British Standards for structural Design;

- Professional work experience in producing designs for proposed telecoms sites (both new build and upgrade);

- Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of both project plans and site level designs;

- Experience with AutoCAD 2D is essential;
