Water Hygiene/Treatment Engineer
London, NW5
This company is a London-based SME delivering mechanical and electrical services for both the public and private sectors. We provide a variety of services from one-off installations and servicing to capital investment schemes and planned preventative maintenance programs with an emergency call-out service 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. We are looking for a Water Hygiene Engineer to join our fantastic, expanding, and fast-paced company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role requires a candidate who can drive and work across multi-sites (mobile nature). All works in this role will be located in and around North London in a range of different types of buildings including housing, commercial, sheltered housing, and public buildings.
Duties include • Temperature taking and monitoring of hot and cold-water systems. • Conduct cold water tank inspections/surveys • Take microbiological samples for analysis • Servicing, testing, and maintenance of thermostatic mixing valves (TMV) • Chlorination and disinfection of water systems • Managing and updating logbooks on site. • Water treatment • Flush of LTHW & HGT pipework • Dosing HGT System • Water sampling • Cleaning filters (x-pots) or Magner clenes • Cleaning Strainers
QUALIFICATIONS • Basic Legionella Awareness training • Basic Asbestos Awareness training
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
• Up to date knowledge of HSE ACoP L8 (Legionella Bacteria Control in Water Systems). • Knowledge of how to carry out the cleaning and disinfecting of water systems. • Basic plumbing knowledge is advantageous. Skills • Able to prioritize work within deadlines. • Excellent communication skills. • Conduct yourself in a professional manner and as an exemplar representative. • Able to work in a high-pressured, busy environment. • Able to use a PDA to receive jobs. AUGUST 2017| ISSUE 2 • Able to work to own initiative as well as in a team. •
Able to problem solve and find solutions that are practicable, and cost-effective to the business. Experience • Minimum three years of experience working in legionella water monitoring on hot and cold water systems. • Experience in carrying out water tank inspections & surveys • Experience in carrying out hot water vessel inspections & surveys • Experience in conducting microbiological sampling • TMV servicing and testing experience.
SPECIAL FACTORS The successful candidate will… • Be flexible in their work approach to working hours. May be asked to work outside of normal working hours as and when required to meet its commitments to its contracts • Be fluent in English. • Be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check as per clients' terms of employment. • Have a full UK driving license.
