Work remotely from anywhere in the UK by joining our technical team as a Structural Design Engineer for HadleySFS. You will work in a rapidly growing Structural Division, currently experience significant investment to expand its facilities. To work within, and to grow with, the structural engineering team working side by side with the detailing teams to deliver a best in class design engineering service to both our internal and external customers.

  • Be responsible for transforming customer requirements from concept design into a finished design.
  • Take ownership for the production of the associated wind analysis, light gauge steel structural calculations, required hot rolled sections required and composite floor slabs to design the best solution for the client and the company.
  • Keep management and relevant stakeholders informed of relevant design changes and/or decisions to ensure client and company objectives are being met.
  • Be able to work to clear deadlines and timeframe to ensure that designs and projects can be delivered on time.
  • Have good interpersonal and relationship building skills to ensure customer interactions are supportive, clear and are fully representative of the company values.
  • Assist in providing continuous improvement within product development for both existing and new product / system ranges to delight our customer range and develop tangible USPs.
  • Have some knowledge of the wider systemization of building products.
  • Provide support to internal and external customers to assist in achieving the sales revenue plan of growth and increased market share, revenue, profit, and ROI.
  • Promote and share knowledge related to the LGS market with both the wider team and the Group as a whole.
  • Liaise and attend site / design meetings to perform duties and aid business.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
  • Support marketing of technical data (website content, brochures, seminars, trade shows etc…)
  • Keep abreast of competitors technical offerings, and benchmark best practice.
  • Any other duties within the capability of the job holder.


External : Architects, Consultants, Main Contractors, Structural Engineering practices, Sub-Contractors

Internal: All levels within all divisions


Areas: Within the UK & international group sites as required

  • Full UK driving license is preferred, with any offences declared to the company.


Education and Qualifications: BEng/MEng in structural engineering or equivalent discipline.

  • Have experience as a structural engineer.
  • Experience in light gauge steel design is preferred.
  • Able to complete hand calculations, working with spreadsheet and/or use of TEDDS
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience preferred
  • Relevant experience of project management
  • Analytical skills and technical problem solving
  • Capable of understanding architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent customer focused technical support

Language(s) & level: Fluent English (spoken and written)


  • Have experience as a structural engineer.
  • Clearly demonstrate knowledge of codes of practice in design.
  • An engineering skillset that can be applied to a broad range of sectors.
  • CSCS card holder
  • Able to read, create and develop technical specifications and documentation.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret architectural, & engineering drawings
  • Keen understanding of buildability
