Job Description
Post Title: Civil Engineer Graduate Apprentice
Location: Various Locations within Highland Council
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Fixed Term 4 years
Salary: HC02 - HC09 £18,018 - £37,146 p.a.
Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: This role is open to the development of a candidate to a professional grade. The position initially will be on a fixed grade basis and will change as a successful assessment is achieved.
This will be a progressive approach to the development of candidates to an engineering post and will provide a structure for set levels of advancement in skills, knowledge and competence leading to an engineering qualification.
The apprenticeship will be a contract with the employee that covers the advancement and outcomes for the Council and candidate. The contract will detail the range of duties and responsibilities of those involved with the organisation, management and mentoring of the role. Assessment of each stage will be in the form of a technical review by the Engineering group an appointed Training Manager with a recommendation to the Head of Infrastructure for approval.
The starting point would be a higher-level school or university, or practical qualification and the completion would be Engineer post.

Must have the requisite entry grades for university enrolment.
A minimum of 3 Scottish Highers at grades BBC or above including Maths plus one other STEM subject OR
2 A levels at grades BC or above in Maths plus one other STEM subject
Alternatively, NC Civil Engineering or Foundation Apprenticeship Civil Engineering.
