XYZ Rail have an exciting opportunity for a Painter/Civil Engineering Operative to join the team.

Location: Glasgow

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of our growing business, we are looking for a Painter/Civil Engineering Operative to work on our sites throughout the UK, therefore travel and staying away from home will form a regular part of the role.

About Us:

We deliver design, construction, maintenance, and enhancement projects for both the rail and non-rail sectors, offering complete packages encompassing buildings and civils, structures, earthworks & geotechnical, lineside infrastructure, vegetation clearance, fencing, drainage and permanent way works.

We also manage specialist industrial and commercial schemes such as multi-model distribution warehousing, office buildings, rail to road transport interchange depot's and maintenance facilities. We also deliver groundworks and civils and install all types of pavement including "ALL Weather" surfacing for racetracks, aircraft stands and aprons, wood storage facilities, lorry parks etc.

We have a specialist fleet of Rail and Civils Plant and Equipment which as well as servicing our contracts and is available for External Hire.

We provide Logistics and Storage (Including Major Incident Response) 24hr service individually bespoke for clients' needs and requirements.

Painter/Civil Engineering Operative - Key Responsibilities:

- You will provide in-house quality workmanship for industrial coating activities on site or within our depot

- Site works will involve the prep and painting of structural steelwork, whilst depot works will involve prep and painting of fabricated materials and plant items

- When not painting, to act as a CEO to undertake a range of civils and track construction works.

- To undertake Safety Critical roles as required following appropriate training

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety and re-enforce safety culture within the maintenance working environment

- Be pro-active in safety improvements and suggestions

- Continuous improvement of team operations and share new ideas to improve both individual and team skills

- Promote and ensure that BBS (Behavioural Based Safety) practices are used

Painter/Civil Engineering Operative - What do we need from you?

- Previous experience is advantageous

- An up-to-date PTS/ Sentinel card an advantage but training can be provided

- 3 years' experience required of application of industrial coatings, mechanical prep and blast cleaning, ideally within a railway environment

- Experience of grit blasting is preferred

- Good standard of reading and writing (able to read lift plans, safety signage, correctly complete logbooks, and associated paperwork)

- Good sound geographical skills

- High standard of work, reliable, punctual, with a positive attitude

- Full UK Driving Licence
