In this role as a Principal Energy Engineer you'll be part of a major initiative within CUK to improve our carbon consumption and energy efficiency ahead of upcoming legislation proposed by the EU and IMO.

To do this you'll work with both onboard and ship based colleagues to gather an accurate understanding of the current energy baseline, before then going on to advise and lead on the effective changes required to the operation of our ships relating to fuel consumption and energy efficiency.

In addition, you will:
  • Use the energy consumption baseline to identify and make decisions on the most appropriate initiatives needed for the CUK fleet.
  • Construct an investment plan and strategy to ensure CUK meets its targets.
  • Represent CUK at Group level and external discussions relating in particular to energy efficiency initiatives.

To be considered as a Principal Energy Engineer you will need to be a proficient problem solver, able to draw upon your insight, analysis skills and initiative to develop a strategy for the CUK fleet to follow in meeting it's targets.

You don't need a Maritime background and we would welcome applications from any industry provided you can demonstrate the following:
  • Experience of analytics, in particular in using data to assist in technical investment decision making.
  • An understanding of the structure and implications Flag State, USCG and IMO rules relating to Energy Efficiency/Carbon Consumption.
  • To be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
