Professor of Practice
Teaching: Prepare, teach, and manage courses that emphasize a systematic engineering design process enhanced with discipline-specific knowledge in civil engineering infrastructure. Teaching responsibilities will include capstone design, construction management, and other courses. Design curricula will be based on textbook material, industry best practices, and project-based learning. The candidate will be expected to work closely with industry partners and professional engineers to develop capstone design projects.
Service: Be involved in the ASCE Student Chapter and help create internship(s) and cooperative work opportunities for students. The candidate will also contribute to the department by serving on related committees, helping advise and mentor undergraduate students, and helping coordinate efforts between the program and the University's nationally recognized research and education activities.
An ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; a Master's degree in civil engineering with emphasis on transportation, structures, geotechnical, environmental, infrastructure, or a closely related discipline; a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with the possibility of registration in the State of Mississippi; ability to develop and teach capstone design courses, construction management, and other civil engineering related courses, as needed; at least 8 years of professional experience in an engineering field involving engineering design and/or project management
