We are looking for a Graduate Design Engineer - Civil, for a permanent hybrid position working from home with office visits to either Sunderland or Leeds. You will be looking for your career to follow the design route, rather than project management or construction management. This could suit a fresh Graduate, or someone with some commercial experience. Salary range of circa £30-40,000 per annum depending on experience, plus excellent benefits including 25 (26) days holiday plus statutory, pension, bonus, healthcare, life assurance and more.

Working as the successful Graduate Design Engineer - Civil, your degree will include Civil and Structural engineering. You will be working in a small design team and your experience will include:

*Some Infrastructure design exposure.

*AutoCAD design document output, with 3D capabilities.

*The ability to develop structural and building foundation designs, including analysis.

*Piping support structures.

*Structural design.

*Site surveys ability.

It would be an advantage if you:

*Have some familiarity with Pipelines, however this is not essential.

*Are ideally an Incorporated Engineer, or working towards IEng within 24 months.

Job purpose:

*Work within a small team of design engineers providing design services to the Capital Projects delivery function.

*As a Design Engineer-Civils/Structural/Mechanical, produce concept designs, detailed designs, and specifications in accordance with procedures, relevant engineering specifications and HSE legislation.

*Support the procurement process within Capital Projects with regard to material and equipment specifications and data sheets, plus quality assurance audits.

*Ensure all Mechanical, Piping, Pipeline, and Civils/Structural design data is collected and filed in accordance with procedure.

*Coordinate and support the relevant design activities completed by specialist subcontract suppliers working on Capital Projects.

*Audit the design changes process within Capital Projects relevant to the Civils/Structural and Mechanical disciplines.

*Undertake the duties required of a Designer under the CDM Regulations.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

*Produce and deliver; Option Studies, Concept Designs and FEED studies and Detailed Designs for all Mechanical, Pipeline, Civils and Structural related work on Network Assets.

*Design installation work and produce all necessary calculations for pipe/pipeline sizing, support structures, foundations, trenching, asset protection, routing drawings, GA's, Hazardous Area Drawings and similar.

*Produce Civil/Structural and Mechanical design packs, Scope of Works, Data Sheets, Valve Schedules, Pipe Schedules, MTO's, Activity Schedules and similar for inclusion in tender packs for Installation work and issue packs for Construction.

*Check and Approve engineering design work and design changes undertaken by other design team members or assigned consultants, ensuring compliance with all relevant UK Legislation and Industry/company Standards and Codes of Practice.

*Produce cost estimates for design scopes and support the preparation of business cases for sanction of the required investment.

*Produce specifications for survey work and options studies required for Pre-Construction Engineering Data Packs for Capital Project Contracts and to enable value engineering of concept scopes.

*Contribute to HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON studies and Auditing of the Civils/Structural and Mechanical design function throughout the project lifecycle.

*Manage small design projects within time and budget constraints and report on progress as required by Capital Projects.

*Assist on all CAPEX projects with Value Engineering studies, Design TQ's and Lessons Learned Reviews.

*Support and coordinate procedures within the Civils/Structural and Mechanical Disciplines during the early stages of projects before handing over to a delivery Project Manager, whilst working closely with the Asset Integrity team to ensure a smooth approval process.

*Provide Civils, Structural, Mechanical and Piping technical design support to all Project Managers within the CAPEX Programme.

*Produce 'reverse engineered' design packs and documentation for any non-compliant legacy project work.
