Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Engineering (Civil and Urban Engineering) –

The Advanced Materials and Building Efficiency Research laboratory (AMBER Lab) in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on the characterization and manufacturing of high-fidelity lunar regolith simulants utilizing local materials available within the United Arab Emirates.

The successful applicant will lead a fascinating project on the performance-based design, development, testing, and application of lunar regolith simulants targeted at proposed landing sites of future lunar missions. These simulants will be critical for testing and validating technologies in preparation for lunar exploration and beyond. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

Applicants must also have experience in the design of lunar regoliths and strong fundamentals in space science. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (geology, geotechnical engineering, image processing, and characterization of construction materials) are required. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related fields. Candidates with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are preferred.
