What you'll be doing
A key role in the Project Engineering team, as a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll be working alongside contractors and consultants delivering Capital Projects for Thames Water and ensuring they comply with our requirements, standards, and expectations for design, delivery, and Health & Safety.

The Project Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the effective definition and de-risking of project briefs which provide the foundation of capital projects, and you'll play an essential part in the supply of project briefs for contractors to deliver against whilst maintaining capital spend.

Focusing on the Civil Engineering discipline, the Senior Civil Engineer will provide the expertise needed to:

Oversee the development of Contractor Project Briefs to meet defined needs with best value solutions
Understand and mitigate project risks to reduce project delivery costs
Provide Design sign-off between Asset Management and Capital Delivery as the delivery stream dictates
Provide technical assurance of projects during the delivery, commissioning, and handover of assetsKey accountabilities include:

Co-ordinating the development of Project Briefs from the needs defined by Engineering & Asset
Understanding project risks and coordinating mitigation activities
Preparing and supporting technical reviews through the definition, de-risking, and detail design phases of projects
Carrying out Technical Assurance checks and audits of contractor activities and outputs through the detail design and construction phases of projects
Coaching and mentoring others to facilitate personal development and continuous improvementWhat you should bring to the role:

Be educated to a degree level in Civil engineering or other appropriate technical qualification in an engineering discipline
Be knowledgeable and have relevant experience in Civil Engineering
Understanding of Health & Safety in the construction industry and in particular CDM
Experience in developing capital project solutions in the water/wastewater industry
Experience in developing technical project solutions and/or briefs
Understand the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be naturally collaborative and confident to effectively communicate with colleagues, contractors, and consultants, and drive forward project delivery
