We take a holistic view of marine engineering and design, from the overall concept through to the smallest detail: rather than simply focusing on a craft or platform, we're dedicated to ensuring every marine design project's success. We also deliver engineering expertise and market sector knowledge through our sister companies: ABL Group, Innosea, OWC, East Point Geo, ABL Yachts, and JLA, located globally, collaborating on projects in accordance with our client's needs.

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Longitude geosciences department, the engineering consultancy arm of the ABL Group.

Key Responsibilities and Duties.

As our new Geotechnical Engineer, you will work as part of a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for a range of offshore renewables and oil and gas projects. Duties in these projects will involve:

  • Conceptual foundation design

  • Detailed analyses for offshore design projects, subsea cable engineering experience is advantageous, and
  • R&D projects to position the company at the technical edge.

You will be expected to:

  • Assist and/or lead projects (as assigned by the Engineering Manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to clients within the timeframe, costs, and quality standards established
  • Prepare tenders and proposals
  • Attend regular internal meetings and external/third party meetings as required; and
  • Ensure all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures, and policies.
  • Liaise and work with the other geoscience departments or disciplines of ABL Group.

Qualifications and Experience Required.

We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capability. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will have:

  • A strong Civil Engineering academic background with a relevant geotechnical degree (ideally MSc or equivalent),
  • 5-10 years in engineering consultancy.
  • Proven experience in acting as a geotechnical engineer in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
  • Experience in advanced geotechnical analysis and the delivery of geotechnical solutions. Knowledge of the design of foundation types for fixed and floating offshore wind.
  • Knowledge of cable engineering would be beneficial.
  • Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Experience in preparing scopes of work for engineering design, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices and the ability to select and apply standard guides, methods, and techniques.
