East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking professionals to manage upgrades of our buildings and parking facilities to reduce carbon footprint and renovate structural, roofing, HVAC, electrical, security and building automation systems. We also are developing new maintenance service yards to meet the needs or maintenance crews. With over 50 buildings in our service area ranging from single story offices at service yards to a nine-story headquarters in downtown Oakland, EBMUD offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects including the cutting edge of climate change related infrastructure such as photovoltaic cells, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy efficient equipment and lighting. With a $100 million capital program planned over the next 7 years, this position affords exciting challenges in delivering high quality, cost-effective facilities incorporating the latest technologies.

We’re looking for individuals with strong interest and capabilities in the following areas: leading project teams from planning through completion of construction contract documents for a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from site development of new projects to rehabilitation of existing occupied facilities; learning and applying our procurement processes to engage professional consultants, construction contractors and equipment vendors; supporting our in-house construction management teams or leading the efforts of construction management consulting firms; and incorporating high levels of sustainability into completed projects.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate with city and county building officials to obtain planning and building permits, communicate with operations personnel to ensure their needs are incorporated in project designs, and coordinate with maintenance personnel to provide projects that save on maintenance costs. The candidate will demonstrate interest and abilities in administering contracts including controlling scope and budget and reviewing and approving invoices. Candidates with strong technical skills and knowledge in a variety of disciplines involved in the built environment, and who demonstrate capability to interface will all disciplines to produce cost-effective, sustainable building systems will be ranked highly.

The salary range for Associate Civil or Mechanical Engineer is $11,362 per month increasing to $11,930, $12,527, $13,153 and $13,811 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

The salary range for Associate Electrical Engineer is $11,647 per month increasing to $12,229, $12,840, $13,482, and $14,156) after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited civil, electrical, mechanical or closely related engineering curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate;
2. Four years of professional civil, electrical, mechanical and/or closely related engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD’s Assistant Engineer level; AND
3. California registration as a Professional Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineer.
