The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for the leading the Transport and Civil engineering activities to support the projects through the project delivery life cycle of concept, feasibility, consent, construction & commissioning across the Onshore business portfolio.

Their role will focus on the development of the processes and procedures which form the construction strategy for the onshore renewable generation projects.

They will coordinate internal and external stakeholders on the Transport and Civil engineering aspects of projects to ensure the design and construction are completed in line with the business standards and project time lines.

The position may require periods where the individual is site based within the UK.

Duties

Collaborate with Global Technical Services and Operations teams to provide feedback and improvement process on Transport and Civil Engineering aspects of projects.

Take proactive responsibility for H&S and Environmental behaviours within the team to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained.

Contribute to the identification & management of technical risks, issues & impacts of projects to mitigate H&S and Environmental issues and impacts.

Assist the Head of Engineering\Lead Project Delivery Engineer with resource assessment appointment of additional resources to support delivery of the responsibilities of the role.

Provide input and support and guidance to additional engineering resources to ensure that they perform effectively.

Assist with the delivery of Transport and Civil Engineering, strategies, standards and specifications within SPR.

Ensure the identification, resolution, management of technical risks, issues and impacts to projects to mitigate hazards during their construction and operation

Responsible for Civil Engineering support to the Development team for new sites, re powering existing sites and due diligence of potential acquisitions to ensure that transport, construction and site infrastructure risk are appropriately managed.

Specification and technical coordination of transport assessments and other studies to support project development.

Attending design workshops, reviewing relevant EIA chapters and providing technical review and comment.

Technically support the project managers throughout the project lifecycle and influence civil engineering and construction strategy to ensure that efficient and effective construction methodologies are identified and utilised throughout planning and construction.

Audit systems and challenge convention, processes and procedures to identify improvement initiatives to influence better ways of working.

Liaise and coordinate with external suppliers and contractors to ensure delivery specifications are met providing input on appropriate tender assessments. Interaction with contractors, consultants and stakeholders.

Deliver (on/off site) expert technical services in support of renewable generation projects

Ensure all technical recommendations/advice is supported by due diligence.

Provide support to the Construction Project Managers for civil works packages, monitoring appointed technical authorities to ensure compliance with SPR specifications, provide input into standard contracts and implement and manage framework contracts for new projects.

Provide technical advice to the Project Management on the Site Investigation and Transportation Contracts including specifying scope of work, technical advice during site works, reviewing deliverables to facilitate the successful delivery of onshore construction projects.

Contribute to the standardisation of specifications across Wind, BESS and Solar PV with the key aim of creating consistency, efficiencies and value to the business.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering
• Experience in supporting development & construction phases of large-scale industrial projects
• Experience of Renewable / Power Generation industry
• Health & Safety management skills (NEBOSH preferred)
• Analyse technical problems, providing creative solutions when required
• Good working knowledge of industry standards, design and installation codes of practice and regulations
• Excellent working knowledge of National standards, associated with the Civil Engineering requirements of the infrastructure for renewable generation projects
• Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
