Principal Civil Engineer

Faststream Recruitment are recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer on behalf of a major international energy business, to work on a billion-dollar, international, large mineral mining project.

This is a long term contract position working on a hybrid basis from home, the office and occasional site visits.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the technical quality of work throughout the project
• Execute design and draughting activities to produce deliverables associated with the allocated workscope, including E3D activities to facilitate the production, while requiring minimum input from engineering personnel.
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures and regulations
• Ensure as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
• Provide input to estimates and schedules and assist in their review
• Maintain good communication with the client and visit sites when necessary
• Provide technical assistance to all personnel as required, across discipline to facilitate delivery.
• Ensure engineering and design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, material quantities, etc.
• Prepare workscope packages for distribution to other locations.
• Facilitate discussions with Senior Designers and Designers relating to design and preparation of drawing issues, providing technical guidance, support and training when required. Ensuring that all discipline personnel are working in alignment and following best practices.
• Maintain filing systems.
• Signing and checking of drawings and documents in accordance with correct procedures.

Role Requirements

• HND or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
• E3D or PDMS Experience
• Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to draughting function.
• Experienced principal designer with sound technical background and in depth knowledge of CAD draughting techniques.
• Conversant with codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation applicable to draughting function.
• Familiar with and competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting for draughting function.
• Able to estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work.
