A design consultancy based in Central London is looking for a Lead Energy/Building Physics Engineer to join their Sustainability team. They offer expertise to their clients across a range of areas including low carbon design, building physics and modelling, acoustics and sustainability. Their Sustainability team is currently 9 people strong, with plans in place to grow and expand the team over the coming year.
For this position they are looking for a motivated Principal or Associate level Energy/Building Physics Engineer to lead their growing Energy & Building Performance Team in the delivery of sustainable, low carbon building solutions on a diverse range and scale of projects.
Working under the leadership of the Partner responsible for Sustainability, Energy & Planning, your role will be client-facing and will require the independent management and delivery of your own projects. You will help develop the Energy & Building Performance Team, through the management and mentoring of junior staff and by driving growth through seeking new business opportunities and winning new work.

Desired Qualifications and Skills
- At least Principal level with excellent knowledge of building physics and passive design, and experience working on projects seeking to be Net Zero Carbon.
- Able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to mentor others.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Proficient in dynamic thermal modelling and analyses (using IESVE) including Part L Assessments, Thermal Comfort Analysis and Overheating Analysis (i.e. CIBSE TM52/59).
- Experienced in Part L domestic analysis.
- Knowledge and experience of CIBSE TM54 Operational Energy modelling and analysis.
- Knowledge and experience of HVAC systems modelling using ApacheSim and ApacheHVAC for NABERS Design for Performance.
- Experienced in the preparation of low and net zero carbon strategies for a range of projects and at varying scales.
- An Engineering background and an understanding of Mechanical Building Services would be an advantage.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Leading the Energy & Building Performance Team and reporting up to the Partner responsible for the overall Sustainability, Energy & Planning business unit.
- Day-today management of the team including assistance in recruitment and the training and mentoring of junior staff.
- Manage the Quality Assurance process, development of templates and modelling database of profiles, etc.
- Lead projects and ensure deliverables are timely and of high-quality.
- Lead and/or oversee all modelling and analyses work undertaken by the team.
- Undertake performance modelling and analyses (including CIBSE TMs and NABERS).
- Work with colleagues from the MEP team to develop low carbon, renewable energy, and net zero carbon strategies. This includes both building-level strategies and site-wide strategic scale strategies, including masterplans.
- Prepare reports, technical notes, presentations.
- Support bidding for new opportunities including contributions to marketing material and attendance at interviews
- Act as an ambassador at networking and business development events.
