The Client

Our client is a leading temporary works specialist in the UK, over 60 years' they have developed a reputation of engineering and service excellence. Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders. They are looking for a Civil / Structural Engineer to join their dynamic and experienced team. The team consists of circa 60 engineers, technicians, monitoring and digital specialists who collaborate and combine their collective industry experience to deliver outstanding technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineers will develop, design, and deliver cost effective, practical and safe temporary works engineering solutions across a range of product groups. In addition to design duties, they may also help to manage workflow at certain times and assist in the training of assistant engineers / technicians. They will be experienced in one or more of our clients core product areas of groundworks support, propping, jacking, temporary bridging, formwork, and falsework, and have an eagerness to learn more.

Elements of the Role Include

* Customer and sales team engagement to explore and develop requirements and design briefs and then develop outline schemes and options

* Preparation of designs and digital models for bespoke temporary works schemes of low to medium complexity, and within their competency level.

* Supervision of Assistant Engineers and Technicians

* Participate in design checking and approval processes appropriate to their competency level.

* Occasionally assist in management of departmental workflow by initial enquiry review, to ensure efficient workflow is maintained.

* Collaboration with sales and operations colleagues to prepare, manage and share all necessary knowledge, documentation, and processes to enable dispatch, transport, installation and safe removal of all solutions.

* Compliance with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.

What You Need

* HND / HNC in Civil / Structural Engineering or related discipline (Essential)

* Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (Preferred)

* Civil Engineering/ Construction Design experience - 2 years+ experience

* Experience in the design of temporary works or closely related design tasks in construction or built environment

* An understanding of the roles of contractor, supply chain, consulting engineers and ultimate Client bodies is essential.

* Experience of Revit (essential) & AutoCAD

* Knowledge of CDM Eurocodes
