If you are a Geotechnical Engineer from a civil background or extended MSc in Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology looking to get involved in more geotechnical detailed design on some of the UK's most prestigious infrastructure schemes, here is a role for you.
I am looking for a Geotechnical Engineer ideally with design experience albeit will consider a Geotechnical Engineer with good ground condition assessment and interpretation experience along with a complimentary MSc and an ambition to design!
My client is an international design consultancy working on some of the worlds most iconic infrastructure projects and looking to grow the Birmingham Geotechnical Engineering design team.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be supported through chartership as well as trained and developed within all aspects of geotechnical design and technical reporting. Technical responsibilities surround; Desk studies, interpretation, GIR & GDR reports along with,
Detailed geotechnical analysis and design including use of analytical software including Repute, WALLAP, Deep-EX, Plaxis (2D & 3D), Slope/W, Seep/W, Pdisp, Holebase, Leapfrog, and structural programs including STAAD and Tekla Tedds.
Undertaking geotechnical calculations including pile design, pile group analysis, retaining wall design, shallow foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability analysis and seepage analysis. Whilst having the ability to undertake hand and/or spreadsheet calculations using traditional soil mechanics formulae to cross-check / validate analytical computer outputs.Geotechnical Engineer specification:
Ideally first class degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering along with a relative MSc in Geotechnical Engineering. Soil Mechanics or Engineering Geology.
Approaching chartership with the ICE, I would also consider a chartered engineer.
Well-rounded knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and design principals
Understanding of foundations, bearing capacities, settlement calculations and recommendations.
Ideally experience of geotechnical design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, retaining walls, embedded walls, piles / pile groups, soil nails, ground improvement, and other ground works.
