My client, a major multidisciplinary Consultancy specialising in Civil, Structural and Water Engineering is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their brilliant Structures team in Crawley. My client implements a holistic approach to design, while focusing on delivering value for local communities and businesses. They house a broad range of specialists offering a great diversity of skills throughout both the public and private sectors and specialise in infrastructure and buildings, having a passion for keeping the country moving so communities can prosper.

Responsibilities:

You will be expected to undertake feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems and identifying options. You will take a leading role in the design, inspection and assessment of major civil engineering structures including bridges. You will prepare schemes for tender, typically using the NEC3/4 Forms of Contract, while designing projects in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridgeworks and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works. Using your strong ability to set and work to personal deadlines, you will aim to fulfil clients needs regarding all requirements of programmes of work and offer them value engineered solutions.

Requirements:
  • A degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Charted Member status.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in the design of highways and civil engineering design.
  • A brilliant working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation standards and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contracts and methods of measurement.
