Competition No.: A104148321
Closing Date: Will remain open until filled.
Growing demands for rare metals as part of the transition to a lower carbon economy (including and not limited to solar power and electric vehicles), as well as an increasing importance in minimizing environmental impacts and creating sustainable practices are only a few of the challenges facing mining engineers today. Newly developed mines are also more technologically advanced than ever before, with underground Wi-Fi, radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to track equipment, automated trucks, advanced robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. With a close connection with the mining industry, and a focus on smart mines and technologies, sustainable development, and social responsibility, the University of Alberta mining graduates and alumni are expected to be leaders in the mining industry. Applicants in all aspects related to mining engineering such as: Robotics, Industrial Automation, Rock Mechanics, Computational Modelling, Mine Planning, Mine Safety and Health, and Mining Environment are welcome to apply.
