The Public Work Department is excited to announce a recruitment for the position of Senior Capital Facilities Project Manager. The Department is seeking candidates with an extensive project management background who will play a key role in managing high-profile projects through completion, assisting in daily operations, and training and developing other project managers within the Division.
The Public Works Department provides for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of infrastructure within the unincorporated area of Contra Costa County and the Flood Control District, as well as county buildings and grounds. Capital Projects, a division of Public Works, manages complex and intriguing architectural & engineering projects for County departments, including planning, designing, bidding, and construction management.

- Developing, planning, scheduling, and executing Capital Projects throughout the County

- Informing various parties about project statuses, including frequent communication with the Capital Projects Division Manager
- Managing project budgets and schedules through completion, ensuring work is completed timely and within budget

License Required: 1) Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application period.
2) Possession of a valid State of California certificate of registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer.
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, engineering, construction management or a closely related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of full-time (or its equivalent of full-time) professional architectural or engineering experience in the design and construction of architectural/engineering building construction, renovation, upgrading, remodeling, and tenant improvement projects.
- Previous sustained experience in positions that required advanced project management and problem-solving skills;
- previous experience working for a public agency;
- previous experience supervising staff and evaluating performance
1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
2. Virtual Interview Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a virtual interview. Candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies assessed, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. The assessment will measure candidates' competencies relating to the Senior Capital Facilities Project Manager classification. These may include but are not limited to: Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Professional and Technical Expertise, Attention to Detail, Displaying Ownership and Accountability, and Leadership. - The Virtual Interview will take place via computer (remotely) on an as-needed basis.
- The interview will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment, as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.
