My Client who is a leading manufacturer within their field is seeking an Industrial Engineering Specialist to undertake projects designing new or modified service sites, including the building layout and working with architects, construction companies, and services. Creating designs based on capacity, lean principles and kaizen to meet future demand, the role holder will work closely with innovation and global engineering to determine the optimal integration of equipment and processes to ensure a smooth handover to operations.

Civil Engineering Specialist
Main Responsibilities
- Design and delivery of new manufacturing facilities projects globally, taking and developing best practice from lean, kaizen, innovation and infrastructure to achieve the business matrices.
- Design and delivery of major modifications of existing facilities to ensure the business metrics are achieved.
- Plan and undertake projects to take process from ‘as is' to ‘to be' status for integration and future operating model.
- Design, develop and manage:
- Building capacity / content
- Building specification, Internal design and construction / modification quotation
- Determine Local legal / environmental requirements
- Project plan
- Design Process capacity and flow
- Facility/environment qualification
- Identify inventory process.
- Identify additional changes and integration action: new location, equipment, working patterns and process flow impact
Skills / Knowledge / Experience
- Either a degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred) / Master's degree in Engineering, chartered status preferred or extensive experience in delivering as outlined below.
- Extensive experience in a manufacturing/ Industrial engineering environment, experience of collaboration with teams and delivery of new or major facility modifications with a proven track record of developing and executing large scale projects, and/or managing broad portfolio of complex, concurrent projects, ensuring tasks are delivered on-time and within budget.
- Experience in group property management and experience in factory construction, layout and development projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM).
- Knowledge of high-accuracy mechanical systems machining and manufacturing.
- Proficient in use of engineering and productivity tools e.g. BIM, MS Project, O365,
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality tools (e.g. VSM, Problem Solving Tools, Kaizen, Time-Study,) and of safety management tools (risk assessment, permit to work).
- Excellent stakeholder management both externally, suppliers and contractors, and able to operate effectively from shop floor to management team with strong communication skills and flexibility to communicate across geographical and cultural borders.
- Ability and experience to problem solve, influence and deliver results without direct line of authority.
- Analytical, detailed and logical mindset and curious and inquisitive, challenges current thinking and continuous development of self.
- Experience of change management and building consensus in challenging environments.
- Strong knowledge of Shingo or Toyota Production System (TPS).
