The City of Sunnyvale is actively seeking a highly enthusiastic, innovative, and creative individual to join the Public Works Department as an Engineering Assistant I. The selected candidate will be joining a team of professionals in the Land Development Section of the Engineering Division and will be responsible for civil engineering work related to development projects and encroachment permit applications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for excellence, a commitment to serving the community, and have outstanding interpersonal skills. Other skills the City is looking for include excellent problem-solving skills, strong ability to communicate effectively and proactively both orally and in writing, and capability to establish and maintain effective work relationships. This position is an exciting opportunity to develop relevant civil engineering experience and provides the potential for career growth.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related field; AND experience in professional or paraprofessional engineering work, some of which shall have been at the level of Engineering Intern, or higher.
