The Company

Formed around 20 years ago, this business serves the global oil and gas industry with intelligent solutions to subsea, topside and hydraulic connection challenges, focusing on safety, reliability and performance. They are an expanding and pioneering developer of a range of break-through hydraulic and pneumatic components and couplings for various market sectors including sub-sea oil and gas, nuclear, aerospace and defence. An increasing demand for their products has resulted in the need for a mechanical designer to design and develop their complex range of products.

The Role

*

Carry out R&D design work to ensure the continuous improvement of the company's products and test equipment to enhance their capability and / or reduce their cost.

Assist the design team in developing new and existing products.

*

Assist in all shop floor activities including assembly, repair of products and testing.

*

Assist in the management of R&D and build-to-order projects from cradle to grave.

*

Complete and implement none conformance reports & engineering changes notices.

*

Writing of technical reports with regard to design, calculations & analysis, development and testing.

*

Check and approve material certificates against relevant specifications.

*

Provide engineering service to sales, manufacturing, assembly, service, QA / QC, suppliers and customers.

*

Participate in design review and FMEA meetings.

*

Participate in Audits from external organizations.

The Person

*

BEng or BSc (Hons) degree in Mechanical / Structural Engineering, or equivalent.

*

Fluent in English - Spoken and written.

*

Full UK Driving License.

Knowledge of the subsea oil and gas industry (desirable)

Knowledge of fluid dynamics (desirable)

Experience in project planning / management (desirable)

Experience in assembling and testing prototypes and existing products (desirable)

Experience with Tolerance Stack-Up calculations (desirable)
