The Senior Geotechnical Engineer supports principal technical engineers and project managers with the management, supervision and data capture and reporting, on onshore and nearshore ground investigations. Ensure successful completion of site and reporting activities maintaining clear lines of communication with site teams and client representatives. Interact regularly with the other departments including geotechnical testing laboratories, specialist testing, and monitoring, downhole and surface geophysicists, nearshore and onshore drilling, and may also work with business development professionals, and senior management, and estimators.

Job description

• Manage the technical aspects of a portfolio of site investigation projects in accordance with Company procedures and within the billed allowances, ensuring compliance with the specification and delivery of projects to programme dates. Communicate directly with clients and negotiate changes to ensure requirements are met.

• Prepare and distribute laboratory testing programmes to geotechnical laboratories. Assist clients and laboratory engineers with laboratory related issues.

• Act as site agent, supervise fieldwork activities and control field resources on site.

• Manage site investigations either from a project management or technical perspective

• Preparation of ground models, factual and interpretive reports.

• Show and apply true commitment to the HSSE Management Systems, policies and standards to encourage and deepen safety standards in all working environments.

• Manage the activities of project teams with regards to the overall ground investigation operations of the Company, other departments and individual Project

• Recruitment, technical direction, mentoring and training of a team of engineers.

The person

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering.

• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to site locations across the UK and occasionally overseas.

• 3 - 8 years previous experience as a Geotechnical Engineer.

• Achieved or actively pursuing chartership through an appropriate professional institution.

• UK Driving licence.
