RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIROMENTAL ENGINEERING AT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (FIU) - MIAMI, FLORIDA

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Florida International University invites applicants to apply for the Research Associate position.

 

The candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Industrial experience and/or experience of collaboration with industry partners is a plus. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director of the Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Center (ABC-UTC). The Research Associate will assist and conduct research that may include laboratory experiments and analytical studies within well-defined guidelines. The Research Associate keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research; collects, prepares, and analyzes specimens; evaluates results of (or response to) processes; summarizes data; may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians. This position will include working with faculty, other researchers, staff, and students at Florida International University (FIU).

 

Job Summary:

 

  • Conducts research activities, under general direction of principle investigator, according to research goals Responsible for conducting, participating in, and/or administering research, training, and/or cooperative extension program/projects. Responsible for administering research projects or conducting research for a specific program or project and writing research paper for publications. Responsible for training personnel involved in specific research project and programs Maintains adequate level of lab supplies and materials needed for research As needed, coordinates with research staff and support other assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high-quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding routine or more complex duties. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes. Adapts procedures or methods relative to changes in research projects Monitors progress of research projects and coordinates information between departmental sections.
