Mechanical Structural Engineer

The Energy team here at Advanced Resource Managers are currently recruiting for a skilled Mechanical Structural Engineer to join a leading client within the nuclear industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Undertake design calculations in accordance with Eurocode 3, inclusive of evaluating earthquake loads;
* Generate, evaluate and select the most appropriate design based on cost whilst ensuring that they're appropriate for use and complaint with any space constraints, customer and UK regulatory specifications;
* Work with the Computer Aided Design (CAD) team to produce equipment fabrication drawings;
* Produce equipment specifications;
* Present designs at internal Technical Reviews;
* Work with fabricators to realise the designs.

What You Need To Succeed

• Experience with using and understanding the requirements of codes like Eurocode 3 and BS EN 1090;
• Knowledge of the design code RCC-M for structural supports to piping is preferable but not essential;
• Experience of designing access platforms for Mechanical Equipment and/or fairly complex steelwork for pipe supports. Ideally with experience of delivering fabricated equipment to site;
• Able to plan their work effectively;
• Sufficient knowledge of standard steelwork components e.g. materials, profiles, strength, joint designs etc. and how they should be used to maintain compliance to the design codes above;
• Practical knowledge of the installation of steelwork components at site;
• Good working knowledge of tolerances;
• Ideally experienced with the application of CE (and/or UKCA) marking equipment to ensure that the proposed design are fully compliant;
• Able to work closely and communicate effectively with project team members.
