Maryland Environmental Service has openings for both Assistant/Associate Engineers to work within the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division supporting our Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration Dredged Material Containment Facility and Marine Terminal projects. The successful applicants will provide engineering support to large civil construction projects from design through construction phases. These positions will provide multidisciplinary engineering, planning, and project management of stormwater management, coastal design, dredging and remediation related projects. These positions will gain hands on experience in the field on construction projects as well as the opportunity for some teleworking. The ideal candidate will have experience in the planning, design, and management of large construction projects. Work experience is not a requirement of the Assistant Engineer position.

Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, assessments, and evaluations, including development of construction documents and materials, equipment, and procurement specifications; preparation of technical and cost proposals and budgets; planning, coordinating, and attending construction progress meetings, interacting with clients, scheduling and coordinating with contractors and field activities at project sites.

These positions will split their time between our Headquarters Facility in Millersville, MD and our Masonville and Cox Creek Dredge Material Containment Sites located in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County, respectively.

 

Estimated Pay Range:

$43,810.47 – $68,120.00

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Electrical, or other generally recognized field of engineering from an accredited college or university for the Assistant Engineer positions.

In addition, the Associate Engineer positions require 3 years of related engineering experience.  EIT certification may be substituted for one year of the required experience or a Master’s degree in Engineering or Management discipline may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.  Positions require a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
