Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior or Lead Survey Technician in the Surveying Section of the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group. The position will be responsible for operation of instruments for field data collection, performing land and hydrographic surveys, construction stakeout, and other survey related field and office operations and applications. Preferred applicant will be proficient with the use and set up of GPS, levels, total station, data collectors (Trimble preferably), and other conventional survey equipment. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is also a plus. Candidate should be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and be able to assist in compiling data for technical reports, correspondence or other documents. This position requires frequent daily travel within the State of Maryland. This position may act as Survey Party Chief, dependent on level of experience.

 

Estimated Pay Range:

$39,829 - $61,000

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include graduation from a standard high school or GED plus a minimum of 4 years (Senior Survey Technician) or a minimum of 7 years (Lead Survey Technician) of experience in the area of design, construction, engineering, surveying, computerized drafting, environmental services or maintenance. A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant field may be substituted for four years of required experience. A Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), Fundamentals of Land Surveying Certificate (FLS), or an Associates degree in Engineering or Surveying may be substituted for two years of the required experience.  Certification by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) as a Certified Survey Technician may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Must be able to pass a standard physical exam, be able to lift 50lbs, and have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
