Our Building Performance Team (BPT) are looking for Building Services Engineers who want to broaden their skills and expand their career direction to move towards sustainable, net-zero design and building physics.

Our BPT team is not a separate 'sustainability team' it is fully embedded in our London Building Services team - supporting on delivery of cutting-edge net-zero carbon projects.

Your new role, what's involved?

Undertake the role of 'Net-zero Carbon Lead'/ 'Sustainability Lead' for high profile Projects, leading building physics & energy strategy work on multidisciplinary projects across a range of sectors
Undertaking dynamic thermal modelling (IESVE) analysis including: Part L Assessments, Comfort Analysis (TM52/59), detailed operational energy assessments (TM54/NABERS), natural ventilation studies & daylighting
Undertaking studies relating to BREEAM Credits including: thermal comfort, low and zero carbon technologies, reduction of emissions, predicted operational energy and daylighting
Undertaking residential Part L assessments utilising accredited SAP software as part of large scale energy strategies
Preparing Energy & Sustainability Statements for developments to complement planning submissions. This will include coordination and managing energy/ sustainability contributions from many different design team stakeholders.
Preparing high quality reports that clearly and concisely communicate the issues involved and the conclusions. The preparation of sustainability and energy strategies will be a core part of the job role
Support bidding for new opportunities including contributions to marketing material and attendance at interviews for projects at a range of scales
Undertaking domestic and/or non-domestic EPCs for new and existing buildings

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

Demonstrate good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced.
Strong passion for sustainability and a good understanding of low-carbon building solutions.
Understanding of the building regulations and British Standards applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.
An understanding of working with Revit/MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
3+ years in in a building services engineering role with a passion for low carbon, low energy design. A background in Building Physics and passive design would be an advantage.
An understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies (Accreditation with BREEAM/LEED/WELL would be an advantage)
An Engineering background and an understanding of Mechanical Building Services
Skills in assessing the feasibility of renewable and low carbon energy solutions
Be able to effectively communicate to clients both inside and outside the business
Advantage if the candidate has experience in Dynamic Thermal Modelling (ideally using IES software and/or Grasshopper/Ladybug) if not training will be provided.
Advantage if the candidate has experience in undertaking Part L Compliance calculations for both non-domestic and domestic buildings, if not training will be provided. Knowledge of HVAC systems modelling using ApacheHVAC or similar would be an advantage.

Qualifications:

Degree in engineering
