The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Syracuse University (SU) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Construction Engineering and Management beginning Fall 2023. Applicants are expected to have a strong background to conduct transformative research on Intelligent Infrastructure for Human-Centered Communities and Industry 4.0 for Construction. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computer vision technologies, human-technology interaction, autonomous systems, construction robotics, building performance, and resilience of infrastructure to extreme events and climate change.

 

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure Engineering or a closely related field.

They should also have a record of scholarly achievement and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, as well as the potential to establish an externally funded research program in their area of expertise.

 

The position requires a commitment to scholarly research resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations, mentoring and teaching, as well as sustained service to the Department, College, University and the profession. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program that complements and expands the current research initiatives of the CEE Department, to mentor students and teach a variety of construction management and infrastructure engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
