Well established and highly reputable Civil & Structural Design Consultancy are seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in a specialist role. The role could be loosely based from either their East London or Guildford offices but will mainly involve travelling around to sites though London, the South East and the South West. Parking is available at both offices and a company car will be provided.
This role will be to primarily deal with structural works involving insurance claims, investigations and structural surveys for flood and fire damaged buildings, and subsidence claims. There would be some hands on design involved, where re-design is involved and making recommendations to the clients.
Ideally you will be an experienced structural engineer who is happy to travel around looking at structural problems with buildings, associated report writing, and provide advice/solutions. You will need to have experience in terms of specifying and overseeing repairs and investigation works.
Good communication skills are essential, as the role will involve discussion with property owners and insurance companies and providing advice, structural solutions and repairs. The role is interesting and varied and will involve a mix of structural design, report writing and structural surveys.
Knowledge of CDM regulations and acting as Contract Administrator would also be useful.
You will need to be able to draw up detailed schedules of works with accompanying drawings, etc. You will need to be able to write detailed reports explaining issues with properties.

The firm have excellent links to both the IStructE and ICE and have a high proportion of Chartered Engineers. Training for Chartership here is given plenty of emphasis, if you have not already achieved this status.
