Morson International are recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer - Substations on behalf of ScottishPower Energy Networks

Coming to us from a Civil or Electrical Engineering background you can bring the core skills for the role, with on the job experience, that can help us to achieve our exciting plans for the future.

Location: Glasgow-Hybrid (2 days working from home)

Contract Length: 6 months

Job Profile

Working as a Senior Civil Engineer you'll be responsible for designing and developing network projects and appropriate contract procurement strategies to enable the compilation of robust and coordinated projects, programmes of work, and balanced workbooks to facilitate their effective delivery within a licence area, whilst driving optimised value from the regulatory contract.

Day to day you will drive the application of innovative solutions to all designs whether this be technological, procedural, or commercial, looking at continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources. In this vital role you will integrate asset stewardship values through effective network management incorporating sound engineering principles, coordinated planning, design, delivery and ownership to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network, promoting an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.

What you'll be doing
  • You'll manage the development programmes of work with efficient solutions, building robust cohesive and coordinated plans, along with balanced workbooks to enable effective delivery within each licence area whilst driving optimised value from the regulatory contract.
  • We will look for you to develop the licence area business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory, and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.
  • You'll support the infrastructure design, ensuring documents, designs and drawings are high quality and comply with design standards.
  • Working alongside team and management to support design delivery, liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered to cost, schedule, technical and quality standards.


What you'll bring

We are looking for you to have a background in Electrical or Civil Engineering, with relevant experience gained in a similar working environment that you can bring to the role.

You'll need:
  • You'll understand design standards up to 33kV, civil engineering drawing and technical specifications,
  • An expert knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • A strong general commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer service, efficient network design ensuring maximum return on investment.
  • Have the ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions
  • Be able to communicate and present information effectively at all levels, with strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Bringing your skills, experience, and knowledge you can support the learning of the team.
  • Share your experience, best practice, and knowledge in this area through mentoring and training of less experienced team members, graduates, and trainees.
