Job Summary:

This position will be involved in a variety of geo-structural engineering projects with a focus on foundation engineering, emphasizing design-build delivery methods for electrical transmission and distribution projects. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will operate as a subject matter expert for all project related geotechnical topics and will interface with a multi-disciplinary engineering team consisting of civil, structural, and various construction management personnel. This position will be responsible for supporting design production including calculations and construction drawings for major design-build projects. The position will also coordinate with outside design consultants in the preparation and delivery of design projects.

Duties:

  • Review available project geotechnical data and search for publicly available data related to project.
  • Perform geotechnical evaluation and analysis of soil and rock mechanics data and provide geotechnical design parameters for various types of shallow and deep foundation systems and earth retention and shoring systems.
  • Develop and maintain company geotechnical library and design standards.
  • Perform and prepare design calculations and analysis for various specialty foundation types including Helical Piles, Drilled Shafts, Micropiles, Rock and Soil Anchors, Driven Piles, etc.
  • Prepare complete project deliverables including construction drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work and assign tasks to junior engineers.
  • Formulate design options for major foundation projects and coordinate implementation of designs with contractors.
  • Prepare preliminary foundation designs for use in project bidding.
  • Develop in depth knowledge and skills in foundation design and application of design codes and standard practice design guides.
  • Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Provide engineering support to construction personnel and perform occasional site visits to project sites.
  • Represent the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of company work and acquiring future projects.
  • Work under supervision of Engineer Manager.
