This is an excellent opportunity to join a Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Consultancy within a highly regarded, long established (50 years this year), specialist Site Investigation group of companies with offices nationwide. My client is looking for an ambitious Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their Consultancy team based at their office in Preston, working on a wide range of projects. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to progress their career.

Person specifications:

B.Sc. / M.Sc. in a Geotechnical related subject.
Have or near Chartered status.
4+ years' experience in geotechnical and geo-environmental investigation and consultancy in the UK
A strong technical background and extensive knowledge of all aspects of geotechnical interpretive report writing involving the derivation of soil parameters and design of foundations, piles, vibroflotation, slopes, retaining walls, earthworks, roads, geological and coal mining risk assessments etc.
Technical Report writing experience of Phase I, II, III and IV stages of environmental investigation.
Knowledge of generic and site specific risk assessments, CLEA and other risk models, groundwater contamination, DQRA's, landfill gas risk assessments, remediation techniques, soil waste classification, validation, etc.
Experience and understanding of current UK legislation for contaminated land.
Full UK drivers licence.
Job responsibilities include:

Providing geotechnical and geo-environmental technical expertise and advice to the Group's area offices and Clients on a wide range of projects.
Producing Geotechnical Interpretive Reports and Geo-Environmental Phase I Desk Studies, Phase II Intrusive Geo-Environmental Reports, Phase III Remediation Statements, Phase IV Validation Reports on a wide range of projects (including slope stability, earthworks, retaining walls).
Mentoring and overseeing junior staff. Peer review of external reports.
Liaison with Clients, Planning Officers, Contaminated Land Officers, Environment Agency etc. Designing investigation and remediation schemes followed by validation.
Assist with business and continuing professional development of all aspects of the company, its staff and technical services and reports.
Salary and benefits:

A full time contract, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm (37.5 hours per week)
24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
