Overview of Consultant Geotechnical / Geo-environmental engineer role
My client is a large a multi-disciplinary consultancy who have a very exciting period ahead as they grow their existing teams and build on the opportunities. As part of this continued and ambitious growth, they are looking to appoint an intermediate-level Geotechnical / Geo-environmental engineer to join the busy team in Edinburgh.
The consultancy provide contaminated land, geotechnical and geo-hazard consultancy services. They work on a range of regional and national projects and frameworks delivering investigation, assessment, remediation, and redevelopment of land as well as supporting internal teams for road, rail and other infrastructure and energy projects. The role will include geotechnical, geo-environmental, geohazards and hydrogeological inputs, with opportunities to develop into these areas to suit your interests.
You will be responsible for liaising with in-house and external clients, provision of ground data assessment, analysis, geotechnical design, risk assessment, modelling and reporting on a wide variety of projects. You will deliver phase 1 desk studies, statement of intent and preliminary sources study reports. You will participate in phase 2 ground investigation procurement, supervision, management and reporting, preparing interpretative reports and contributing to geotechnical design reports. You will provide supervision and monitoring of groundworks for land development and geohazard projects.
You will have the opportunity to work on a huge variety of projects varying in scale from local community-based projects to some of the UK's largest infrastructure schemes. This is a key role within the team and there will be ample scope to grow, develop your personal profile and learn new skills along the way to further your career.
Experience
You will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related subject and have a minimum of three years of relevant post-graduate working experience.
You will meet the following key requirements:
Proven track record in ground investigation including the ability to manage project tasks from inception to completion.
Sound understanding of UK geology and soil mechanics principles.
Practical experience of site investigation and laboratory testing techniques.
Experienced in soil and rock logging and use of associated software and analysis tools.
Understanding or experience of geotechnical design of foundations, slopes, and earthworks.
Understanding or experience of contaminated land assessment.
Skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including clients, contractors, regulators and other professional staff across multi-disciplinary business groups.On offer
