About the role

Are you looking for leadership opportunity in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) sector where you work in a dynamic and fast-growing environment with a high degree of multi-functional collaboration? Do you like to work for the collective success of multi-disciplinary team? We are seeking a Head Engineering & Construction (E&C) EMEA who is attracted to working in such an environment.

As Head E&C EMEA, you will directly report into Head Property & Specialty EMEA along with a strong dotted line into the Global Head E&C. You will be part of EMEA Property & Specialty Products underwriting team which consists of expert underwriters for Property and Engineering.

You will:
  • Ensure the continued profitability and drive the profitable growth of the retail and wholesale E&C business in EMEA in line with the regional priorities and global strategy
  • Drive the execution of Renewable Energy business strategy
  • Drive an international underwriting team with underwriting leaders and underwriters spread across EMEA
  • Provide technical underwriting guidance to the underwriting community and enable the execution of underwriting strategy
  • Cultivate business relationships with our customers and distribution partners, to raise SR CorSo's market profile, to expand the product offering as well as to define the distribution strategy for the various markets in close collaboration with our Customer and Distribution management team
  • Enable the culture that underwriters maintain an active network with their respective distribution partners and customers
  • Foster active collaboration with internal stakeholders (Actuarial, Portfolio Steering, Reserving, Finance, Operations, Claims etc.)

About you
  • Deep understanding of the Engineering insurance products including IDI
  • Excellent analytical skills, business insight and visionary approach
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and social skills
  • Ability to plan, articulate and implement a leadership vision based on consistent application of strategic decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead international teams spread across different locations
  • Good understanding of financial reporting methods like US GAAP and EVM. Readiness to learn IFRS
  • Very good understanding of actuarial methods used to assess portfolios
  • Fully proficient in English, knowledge of additional European languages is of advantage
  • University Degree in engineering (i.e. chartered engineer status in civil, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering) or comparable education with strong affinity to engineering & construction industry
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a professional engineer in the industry, ideally including managerial roles, site experience with construction supervision and testing/commissioning responsibilities of large investment projects
  • Minimum of ten years engineering underwriting experience with a primary insurance or reinsurance company, ideally in the EMEA region associated with a minimum of 3 years in charge of an Engineering portfolio
