PROJECT MANAGER – CIVIL ENGINEERING

Mattern & Craig is an employee-owned, professional engineering and surveying firm established in 1978.  We serve both public and private clients primarily in VA, TN, NC, and SC. 

We are currently seeking a Project Manager in our civil engineering division. This role can be based in our Johnson City or Kingsport, TN offices. The focus of the position is managing civil, utility, stormwater, land development and related projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple design projects; develop project schedules and budgets.
• Supervise design team members and provide quality assurance for meeting design criteria and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the development of Statements of Qualifications (SOQ), technical proposals and presentations; and coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, government, regulatory and funding agencies.

Requirements:

• TN Registered PE or licensure in an adjacent state and the ability to obtain TN licensure within 6 months is required
• BSCE from ABET accredited engineering program, MS or higher degree a plus
• Proficiency with civil engineering practices and methodology and working knowledge of design plan preparation and review using industry standard software
• Excellent engineering design skills
• Previous client and project development experience, excellent communication skills and a willingness to lead a team is highly valued
• Minimum of 10+ yrs. experience in project management and client services

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with local government, utility, and land development projects is highly desired.
• Familiarity with asset management and data analytics technology for utilities and local governments is desirable.
• Knowledge of local design standards and regulatory agencies is a plus
• Experience with municipalities, utilities, land development, and related agencies is a plus.
