Regional Water Resource Agency (RWRA), the municipal wastewater (sewer) utility located in Owensboro, KY, is accepting resumes for the position of Assistant Director of Engineering, Project Engineer, OR Project Manager

 

Assistant Director of Engineering

 

This individual will assist in the management the Engineering Department including, but not limited to administration, planning, design, construction administration, permitting, plan review, inspection, computerized mapping of RWRA’s infrastructure, and the coordination of various engineering functions. 

 

Essential Job Duties:

 

    *  Provides the general supervision and management of the Engineering Department of RWRA

 

    *  Performs studies, evaluates performance of processes and assesses regulatory compliance needs at wastewater treatment plant facilities; evaluates and implements treatment process modifications and upgrades to comply with the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) initiatives

 

    *  Assists in the development of RWRA’s Long-Term Control Plan (LTCP), including the design and implementation of projects and initiatives laid out in the LTCP and responsible for the regulatory reporting requirements

 

    *  Assists in providing leadership and direction to ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to engineering and operational issues, providing technical assistance to other departments of RWRA 

 

Job Preferences and Requirements:

 

     *  A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university in a related engineering discipline is required

     *  Knowledge of engineering principles, state statutes and federal regulations applicable to the operation of a wastewater utility is preferred

     *  Four or more years of progressive engineering work experience beyond a bachelor’s degree is required; position also requires a minimum two to four years of management and supervisory experience

 

     *  Professional Engineers license is required; Kentucky PE required within six months

 

     *  Ability to effectively use various personal computer applications, such as Auto Cad, Microsoft Projects, civil engineering software, GIS software, etc. is preferred

 

     *  Background in wastewater treatment plant operations, sanitary/storm sewer, or other pipeline related design is preferred

 

     *  Understanding of hydraulics required, and hydrology is preferred

 

Pay Range:

 

     * Beginning salary may range from $95,055/annually to $115,272/annually, depending upon relative work experience and education

 

Project Engineer

 

This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, project design, coordination, construction supervision, easement acquisition, system studies and development / implementation of environmental programs as directed by the Agency.

 

Essential Job Duties:

 

     *  Prepares sewer extension project plans and specifications utilizing digital survey information, AutoCad, civil software, and other computer applications

 

*  Provides the general supervision and management of construction inspection

 

*  Implements and oversees construction projects; coordinates RWRA efforts and external activities to complete projects on schedule; reviews change orders on construction projects

 

*  Oversees sewer related rehabilitation efforts, including various no-dig rehab methods (i.e. cured-in-place pipe rehab, epoxy coating methods, tap rehab methods)

 

Job Preferences and Requirements:

 

     *  A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university in a related engineering discipline is required

 

     *  Knowledge of engineering principles, state statutes and federal regulations applicable to the operation of a wastewater utility is preferred

 

     *  Two to four years of progressive engineering work experience beyond a bachelor’s degree is required; position also requires a minimum two to four years of management and supervisory experience

 

     *  Engineer in Training (EIT) designation is required; Professional Engineer (PE) status is required within 4 years of the start date

     *  Background in wastewater treatment plant operations, sanitary/storm sewer, or other pipeline related design is preferred

Project Manager

Job Schedule:

 

     * Full-time (40 hours per week), exempt position opening 

 

     * Work hours are typically 7:00am-3:30pm, M-F
