Job Title: Senior / Principle Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Leeds / Newcastle / Peterborough / Portsmouth / Haywards Heath

Salary: £40-65k (experience dependant)

Type: Perm - Full time - Hybrid working (Min 2 days a week in office, no fully remote working to be considered).

Grade: Senior to Principal grade

Experience: 8-15 years' experience - Relevant UK sector experience (preferably in a consultancy)

Our client is seeking enthusiastic Geotechnical Engineers with proven commercial experience in geotechnical engineering design for an immediate start to join our teams within our growing offices. The successful candidates will provide technical support to civil/structural engineering projects across our client's business.

Our client can offer support with progression towards professional qualification, and a growing and vibrant workload and team working environment. Our client offers agile working with a blend of home working and using our offices for collaboration.

Our client's workload is primarily focused on coastal and flood risk management projects, in the ground investigation and design stages. Our clients' engineers work within multi-disciplinary project teams helping us to find the most economic and sustainable design solutions. In addition to the flood risk management work they also provide support to Network Rail and various local authorities in relation to slope stability investigation and design for road and rail infrastructure.

The candidate will report to a Technical Director and the position will suit a Senior Engineer or a Principal Engineer.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and other technical staff from across different offices.

The main aspects of the role include:

-Delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects.

-Geotechnical modelling.

-Geotechnical design.

-Ground investigation planning and supervision

-Finite element modelling skills would be desirable (but not essential)

Qualifications and experience:

-A degree (or equivalent) in civil or geotechnical engineering is essential.

-The right candidate is expected to progress towards, or already hold, membership of the ICE or other appropriate institutions.

-Demonstrable experience of geotechnical design and numerical modelling with a variety of design packages is considered essential, in particular PLAXIS 3D/2D, but also experience using WALLAP and GeoStudio or similar retaining wall design and slope stability/seepage software would be of interest.

-This position will suit a senior engineer to principal engineer looking to progress their career.

The right candidate will have:

-Experience of working in a client-focussed organisation.

-Excellent report writing and effective communication skills.

-A sound appreciation for engineering principles and good analytical skills for problem solving.

-Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation.

-Full UK driving licence.

-Relevant UK sector experience (preferably consultancy).
