CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT (CE&M) FACULTY POSITION

DIRECTOR AND EDGAR P. SMALL PROFESSOR

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a tenured faculty position in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) at the Full Professor level starting in Fall 2023. UD's four-year bachelor's program in CEM was launched in Fall, 2017. The program has since graduated two classes and is in the process of seeking ABET Accreditation. The successful candidate will be a key member of the department leadership and will serve as the lead for the CEM programs at the University of Delaware.

The successful applicant will assume the role of the Director of the CEM program at a tenured Full Professor level and will hold the endowed Edgar P. Small Professorship in Construction and Engineering Management. The candidate is expected to develop the short and long-term direction for the CEM programs, lead curricular and accreditation matters (including but not limited to preparing for ABET EAC and ANSAC accreditation reviews), oversee the development of a graduate program in CEM, develop and deliver graduate and undergraduate CEM courses, and recruit graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will already have an extramural-funded research portfolio and will continue to secure funds to support graduate students and undergraduate researchers. The preferred candidate is expected to have experience participating in collaborative activities across disciplines. The candidate will serve as a liaison with Development and Alumni Relations, industry partners and professionals seeking opportunities for financial support to the CEM program and enhanced educational and networking opportunities for students.

It is desired for the successful candidate to have a demonstrated and distinguished record in teaching, service, and research and be a recognized leader in Construction Engineering and Management. Although the position is being advertised at the Tenured Full Professor level, distinguished applicants at a senior Associate Professor level are also encouraged to apply. Applicants seeking an appointment with Tenure are expected to exceed the criteria for the respective rank at the University of Delaware.
