The School of Engineering at California State University, East Bay invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning in Fall 2023 (Job #: 519821)
We are seeking an individual with teaching ability at graduate and undergraduate levels in selected
aspects of Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering/Management, such as structure and
infrastructure design and construction. Additionally, demonstrated expertise or interest in the
interdisciplinary research areas of two or more Civil Engineering domains (involving Structural, Water,
and Construction Engineering) in published work and research projects are strongly desired. The
candidate must have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or related field by August 2023 and a B.S. in Civil
Engineering. Professional registration (PE-Civil license), Civil Engineering and Construction related
professional experience, record of teaching and research activity in Civil Engineering and Construction
Engineering/Management are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching,
mentoring, research, or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, engage
undergraduate and graduate students in applied research, publish papers and attract funding in areas
related to Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering/Management. In addition to teaching and
research this faculty will be responsible for advising students, curriculum development, engaging in
program accreditation, program outreach, interaction with industry and other activities required for
advancing the mission of the School of Engineering. Ability to teach, advise and mentor students from
diverse educational and cultural backgrounds is required. Please note that teaching assignments at
California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses. In
addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative
and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.
